The City Government of San Fernando in cooperation with the Capital Town Pampanga and Smart Communications carried out a Kalesa Day which happened last May 20, 2022, which is a part of the celebration of the “Pyestang Fernandino 2022”.
The activities were the Kalesa Decoration Competition and Free Kalesa Tours within the Heritage District of the City.
At least 30 Kutseros partaken in the free tour that aimed to encourage the usage of Kalesa as one conventional means of public transportation as well as its preservation as a heritage symbol.
The event was attended by nearly a hundred locals, tourists, and visitors who toured around the city center using the different colors and well-decorated Kalesas.
Meanwhile, 14 Kalesas participants in the Kalesa Decoration Competition showcased the Pyestang Fernandino and the heritage month as a theme in the decoration of their respective Kalesas.
Kutseros Marcelino Aquino (partner organization-Brgy. San Pedro Youth Council), Carlos Pabalan (partner organization-Foundation for Lingap Kapampangan, Inc.), and Erick Ocampo (partner organization-CSF Muslim Community) emerged victorious as first to third placers, respectively.
The prizes were given through the assistance of festival partners, Smart Communications, Inc. and Megaworld Corporation’s Capital Town Pampanga to the winners.
