What’s your favorite Local Film? What about Teleserye?  

Have you ever wanted to visit a place where you’ve seen your favorite film? 

Filipinos love watching films and their daily Teleserye at noon. 

Do you remember Forevermore which aired last 2014-2015 starring Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano? 

The series became so popular, that even tourists would visit its filming sets in Tuba, Benguet, the location of the fictional town of La Presa.

Unbeknown to many, Pampanga is also one of the locations that were mostly used as a filming set.

Mainly because the province of Pampanga is just 80 km from the Capital city, Manila. 

Second, it’s because Pampanga is a place wherein- you find new places to discover.

No wonder, there have been many local films and dramas that have been shot in Pampanga that people don’t know about or notice.

Here are some of the Dramas and Films that were partly or completely filmed in Pampanga:

1. Saying Goodbye.

Saying Goodbye is IQYI’s First Original Filipino series that aired in Dec 2021 – Jan 2022 with only 8 episodes starring Seth Fedelin and Andrea Brilliantes. 

The story is about celebrating life and love, despite the challenging encounters they might face in life. Is their love worth fighting for, even though they need to say goodbye forever?

Most of the scenes were filmed in Pampanga.

One of the most memorable scenes in the entire series was the confession part that was taken at Holy Angel University in Angeles City, Pampanga.

2. Tanging Yaman

A Classic Filipino film that you should watch with your family.

Directed by award-winning director Ms. Laurice Guillen. 

This Filipino Film will teach you the importance of family and the heart-wrenching story of a family full of misunderstanding, resentment, and forgiveness. It will unfold the story of three siblings wanting to sell their ill mother’s property. 

The grandmother played by Ms. Gloria Romero suffered from an illness called Alzheimer’s as her memories started to fade one by one, the fight between her children and grandchildren continued.

The film was entirely filmed at Villa Epifania also known as “The Grand Old House of Sta. Rita” which is located in Sta. Rita, Pampanga. 

If you like to watch a tear-jerking movie, this is absolutely a must!

3. 2 Cool 2 Be 4gotten

A coming-of-age film that tackles the story of three young boys, their friendships, and love. It’s not just your ordinary coming-of-age film you’ve seen countless times in the cinema. 

The story later onwards will turn into a darker tone, which caused the story more interesting. 

It’s rather occasional for a film to tell a story about the LGBT community. 

The setting of the story was in the 90s, after the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo.

The film was filmed in Angeles City, Pampanga. 

Written by Jason Paul Laxama, a well-known Kapampangan director in the entertainment industry.

4. May Bukas Pa

How can we forget the ever-popular character in Philippine drama history? Like everyone knows who Santino and Bro are. This 2009 teleserye of ABS-CBN was shot entirely in Bacolor, Pampanga. 

Most especially in the San Guillermo Parish Church in Bacolor, which became their main filming set. 

Starring Zaijan Jaranilla as Santino, it’s a story of an abandoned young child who found a trusted friend in a mysterious person he calls “Bro,” who was always there helping him in changing the lives of every person he encounters in his life.

This story teaches us numerous things in our lives!

It teaches us to be the star in every person’s darkest night, love in every pain we encounter, and be faithful whenever there are uncertainties, distrust, and hope in every storm that might affect us.

Miracles do exist in life! It’s a story of ordinary people who believe that there’s a reason to live life with a choice. A choice to feel brokenness, to be blessed, to love and to be loved, to share and to sacrifice.

There are more films and Dramas however the list won’t end! It only shows that Pampanga is a great filming place for Dramas and Films.
