The newly-renovated old public market is now named City Market Plaza in San Fernando and will be accessible to the public starting on September 18, 2022.
The announcement of the opening day of the City Market Plaza was issued by the City government through its information office last September 5.
The newly renovated CMP was launched to the public last May 30, 2022, however, the opening to the public was put off in the meantime to give way to the implementation of safety precautions.
Allegedly, Mayor Vilma Caluag personally talked with the vendors of the CMP to notify them about the initial opening date of the City Markey Plaza.
The first wave of market vendors who volunteered to move their stalls inside the CMP are scheduled for a week-long ingress to arrive starting September 12 before the expected soft opening of the facility.
Nelson Lingat, the City Administrator notified the public market vendors regarding the responsible way of using the market by revealing its detailed rules.
The City Market Plaza was constructed with an allocated budget of 250 million pesos, with two floors and an area of 1.1 hectares. It has 550 market stalls, a fruit and vegetable area, food stalls, and a pasalubong center.
