A total of 1,130 indigenous Aeta children who are currently enrolled in various schools in Pampanga were granted financial support from the provincial government for the sake of helping them complete their education last September 21.
With the help of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office or PSWDO, Pampanga Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda and Vice Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda gave monetary aid to the Indigenous Aeta students at both levels of elementary and college occurred at the Lubao gym.
There was a total of 1,061 students from the elementary level that were granted P2,500 each. On the other hand, 69 University students received monetary aid equivalent to P5,000 each.
An additional monetary aid equivalent to P5,000 each was also provided to the college students living in a boarding house for their rental payment.
Aside from the financial aid, the provincial government also gave the Aeta students’ entire matriculation fees both in private and in public schools, as part of the local government’s campaign to elevate and boost the lives of the residents of the upland communities in Pampanga.
“Yung mga napa-graduate na natin, permanente na yung iba sa kanila sa Kapitolyo. Inaabangan ko talaga ‘yung mga gagraduate, lalo na next year, may naka-prepare nang item or trabaho para sa kanila,” published by the vice governor Lilia Pineda in a social media post.
Along with the activity, the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency-Region 3, in the person of Assistant Regional Director Rene Jose Gonzales, Deputy Regional Director Bernadette Bersamin, Maria Teresa Viernes, Geraldine Gasacao, and John Rieven Tagama, conducted an ‘Orientation on the youth and student recruitment by the CPP NDF NPA.’
Also participating in the activity were 2nd District Board Members Fritzie David-Dizon and Sajid Khan Eusoof, and Lubao Mayor Esmie Pineda.
2nd District Board Member Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab’s message to the scholars,”Pahalagahan ninyo ang inyong pag-aaral, dahil ‘yan ang sagot sa kahirapan, at hindi ang pagsali sa anumang kilusan na kumakalaban sa pamahalaan.”(Value your education, because that is the answer to poverty, and not join any movement that opposes the government.)
“Hangga’t nandito kami, lahat ng kailangan ninyo, lalo na sa mga gusto pang mag-aral ng haiskul at kolehiyo, nandito po kami para umantabay sa inyo hanggang kayo ay makatapos,” Board Member Mylyn furher added.
