So there are two things that excite me about this WIP feature. First is that I am going to meet up with newfound friends and second, of course, the main reason why I am actually going to meet these new friends – to try out from what I heard was a very affordable authentic Japanese ramen house.
I don’t know about you but usually, when I hear people talk about Japanese food, it’s always mentioned that it is too expensive, so I guess we would have that inclination that eating Japanese food is more of a luxury or that you can just enjoy it on special occasions.
Well here’s some pleasurable news for you, Hachiryu Ramen is here and can be your go-to ramen house whenever your cravings hit you as its location is very accessible – just along McArthur Highway near Angeles University Foundation.
The first thing I’ve noticed when we arrived at Hachiryu Ramen is the traditional ancient Japanese vibe that I felt and that kind of setting brings a piece of Japan to the place. One other thing that got my attention is their open kitchen which gave me the assurance that there is nothing to hide, there is a sense of transparency on how your food is being prepared which I think is one of the factors why I was able to eat more than what I would usually have on a given day.
Since it’s a ramen house, they serve mostly all kinds of ramen from Miso Ramen, Sesame Taste Spicy Ramen (Tan Tan Men), Pork Broth Soup Ramen (Chashu Ramen), Special Tonkatsu Ramen and they have this so-called Dragon Ramen (white, yellow and red dragon) which is made of pork broth (tonkatsu based) and can be seasoned with soy sauce, deep fried garlic sauce, spicy meat or in hot szechuan pepper. I have never thought that this noodle dish could be so intricate in its structure starting down from the broth and seasonings, and up to the toppings.
And of course, they also serve foods that go best with ramen like chicken karaage, yakiniku, okonomiyaki (Japanese pizza/pancake), gyoza, tonpei yaki (fried pork omelet) and yakisoba. Well, they say that ramen is also a good beer match so if you want to chill as you can also find that on their menu.
But wait there’s more! If you ever find it challenging to choose from their menu like I did, you can just pick from their set meals so that you can try a little bit of everything.
And you know what’s the best part in all of this? I didn’t even notice how much I was able to eat because I got to enjoy the food with new acquaintances and some old friends too. It’s always best to enjoy good food like what they have at Hachiryu Ramen with your family and friends. So yeah, Hachiryu Ramen is your go-to ramen house not just because it’s accessible, affordable and all the fun times that you can have – It’s Oishii!
