Today’s featured restaurant has been operating for no less than 10 years. In fact, they are one of the first Japanese restaurants established along Friendship Highway, Angeles City – just outside the fence of Clark Air Base which is now known as Korean Town.
Although a lot of food establishments have been sprouting in the area, most of them serves international dishes, several foreigners still do come to this place because they recognize the authentic Japanese food they serve. This is Sempai Japanese Restaurant.
Sempai Japanese Restaurant is located at Friendship Highway, Korean Town, Brgy. Anunas, Angeles City.
The ambience here at Sempai is obviously Japanese. There are partitions in the restaurant which you can choose from: smoking, non-smoking, grill, reserved, and soon to be fully operational – their outdoor overlooking the beautiful sunset.
Here’s a recap of our table at Sempai.
Kani Mango Salad (Php 280/Large | Php 150/Small) – Generous amount of lettuce leaves with crab sticks, shredded cucumber skin, topped with tobiko and Japanese mango mayonnaise.
Tonkotsu Ramen (Php 340/Regular | Php 240/Small) – This popular Japanese ramen is from the stock of pork bones boiled for several hours until the collagen, marrow and fat break down. The result is a creamy white soup with soft pork meat, boiled egg and side vegetables leaves.
Ikayaki (Php 340) – Another best seller at Sempai is the Ikayaki which means grilled squid.
Ebi Tempura (Php 320) – huge and tasty prawn tempura.
Salmon and Tuna Sashimi (Php 260/Regular | Php 140/Solo) – my favorite 😛
Mixed Maki – Another all time favorites: California Maki, Philadelphia Maki, and Spicy Salmon.
Unlimited Seafood – Yakiniku Grill & Ala Carte Style (Php 549/person) – Good sized shrimps, Tuna belly, Salmon, Blue Marlin, shells and side flavorings.
